Dog escapes home after getting spooked by unfamiliar hooman, runs 45 mins to favorite park to meet usual dog walker who alerted dog mom, pawrent says: ‘I thought for sure Billie had been hit by a car if she’d ran down the road.’

You would be forgiven for thinking that asking your friend to walk your dog when you have a work emergency would be no big deal. But as you'll come to find in this story, it can be the biggest deal there is.

This is one of those stories where everything goes wrong, but it is not really anyone's fault that any part of it has gone wrong. Was the pupper's pawrent to blame for being called into work early at the last moment? Certainly not, they needed that money to fund their pupper's fancy lifestyle of course. Can the pawrent's friend be blamed for not checking that the door had fully shut even though they did close it,just not enough. Maybe a little, but what are they to do about doors made of swollen wood that do not want to shut. And can the pupper be blamed for being spooked by a strange hooman in their home coming straight for them? Certainly not, the pupper had no idea what was going on and was not about to hang around and find out what it is like to be dognapped.

Alas, no one is to blame, but this story sure does raise the point that you should always have a familiar person in your life that you can depend upon to walk your dog at a moment's notice if needed.

Oh how naive we can be before the fall eh? It is a truly difficult thing to hand over the care of our canine children to someone who has not yet proven themselves around our dogs. But sometimes there really is no other option and we have to handle the situation put before us the best that we can. And if that means recruiting help from whoever is available, then that will be what it will be. Though we are sure this pupper pawrent was left wondering if it would have been better to let their doggo stay indoors until they got home themselves.

This is a tough one. It is a common issue amongst many older doors in the ancient houses of London town. The changes in weather make the old wood swell and so it can become incredibly tough to open and close things such as doors and windows. But is that a reasonable excuse for not making sure? Is that a decent reason to have to call your friend and tell them that your dog is now missing? We cannot think of a reason that it is, especially seeing how this person should likely have known about issues similar to this and being a dog owner themselves, they should have been far more aware of what can happen during an initial meeting without the pupper’s pawrent present.
